Day 13 - Fake tales of San Francisco

After arriving in San Francisco to a confused hotel front office who weren't expecting us for another day, we revisited our itinerary and realized that we had built in a night in Arizona. Instead, we had driven straight through to LA that night. So we found ourselves with an extra day in San Francisco. This turned out to be fortunate, because we hadn't been able to drive up the coast on our way from LA, so instead we drove down to Monterey on our first day in San Francisco.

Our second day was spent doing all of the touristy San Francisco things. We visited the Fisherman's Wharf, shopped at Pier 39, visited the City Lights Bookstore, had a sundae and milk at the Ghirardelli cafe in Ghirardelli Square, drove down the "Crookedest Street", took in the views from the (base of) Coit Tower, and ate in Chinatown. We also got VERY familiar with some of San Francisco's looovvvveeely hills.

On our last day before returning to reality (waahhhhh) we were out of exciting ideas of San Franciscan activities and decided instead to spend the day getting pampered with mani/pedis and haircuts. We did end the day with a nice dinner in North Beach and a trip to the Castro, San Francisco's biggest gay neighborhood, for some cookies.

After 4,626.2 miles, 78 hours on the road, 6 different hotels/houses, and countless pit stops for gas, supplies, bathrooms, etc., the road trip is coming to an end. Tomorrow I head back to Boston and MT goes off to meet a slew of new people and start her new job.

In conclusion: Google is always right, always double check everything before you leave anywhere (specifically time zones, highways, and belongings), arrow to the F is good, arrow to the E is bad, but MOST OF ALL, always be flexible, because everything will go wrong, and you just have to deal with it.

Day 10 - The End is Near

We completed the final leg of our journey today, leaving LA early and after a few typical unintentional detours arrived at the beautiful Slide Ranch.

We dropped all my earthly belongings off and headed back into the city for a well needed calm night in at the hotel. Tomorrow we begin exploring!!

Day 9 - A really big hole...

Today we made it from Albuquerque to LA with a pit stop at the Grand Canyon. We are exhausted. A few photos to show just how tired and happy we were :)

Day 8 - Back to the desert

Day 7 was another driving heavy day as we worked our way through West Texas and into New Mexico finally arriving in Albuquerque without incident.

Today was spent sleeping in, roaming the Albuquerque Biological park and Aquarium and running errands. A welcomed day of rest and leg stretching.
